Who wrote this. We're HonestFarewell, so we're one of the sites on this page. We aren't affiliated with Funeralocity, and Funeralocity hasn't reviewed this page. Facts about Funeralocity come from its own public pages, checked October 26, 2026, linked at the end.

Funeral homes can pay us for a labelled "Sponsored" listing, but no one can pay to change our price lists or the order of homes. If something here is out of date, email hello@honestfarewell.org and we'll fix it.

Funeralocity and HonestFarewell do a similar job: both help families compare what funeral homes charge, for free. The differences are in where the prices come from, how much of the country each covers, and what funeral homes can pay for.

The short version

  • If you want a quick national view, Funeralocity says it gathers prices from every funeral and cremation provider in the US, in four standard packages.
  • If you want each home's own prices, with a date, HonestFarewell reads each home's General Price List and shows when we last checked it. We cover fewer places so far: 85 metro areas in 10 states.

What's different about the prices

A package price that includes a national average for a casket or urn gives you a feel for the total. A price read from the home's own list tells you what that home charges for that item. Both can help. If you're choosing between two homes, ask each one for its General Price List: by law, funeral homes must give you written price lists.

How HonestFarewell works, for both sides. Families get checked prices, guides and a planner for free. Funeral homes can claim their listing for free, and once we've checked a claim, requests from up to 5 families a month come straight to that home.

Paid listings are labelled "Sponsored". We never charge a home for a family's request, and no payment changes a home's prices or where it ranks. Our Advertiser Disclosure (opens in a new tab) explains it in full.
