HonestFarewell

Premium Subscription Terms

The terms for businesses that buy Premium on HonestFarewell: tiers, sponsored placement, verification, billing, automatic renewal, cancellation and liability.

These terms are an agreement between Honest Reviews Tech LLC, a Delaware limited liability company at 611 South Dupont Highway, Suite 102, Dover, DE 19901, United States ("HonestFarewell", "we", "us"), which operates honestfarewell.org, and the business that buys a Premium subscription ("you").

They apply together with our Terms of Use, our Sponsored Content Policy and our Cancellation and Refund Policy. Where these terms and the Terms of Use differ, these terms apply to Premium.

These terms cover funeral-home and law-firm Premium subscriptions. References to your homes or home listings apply to your firm and firm listing where relevant. Funeral-price-list obligations apply only to funeral providers; lawyer advertising obligations apply only to law firms. Each law-firm tier covers one firm, with its attorneys and offices in its profile; it does not buy multiple firms or expand any lawyer’s authority to practise. Funeral and law-firm sponsorship inventories are separate.

By subscribing, you confirm that you buy Premium for a business and that you are authorised to agree to these terms on its behalf.

1. What Premium is

Premium is a paid advertising and profile subscription for funeral providers and probate and estate law firms. It includes:

  • Sponsored placement: your homes can appear in areas of our metro-area and state pages labelled "Sponsored", as described in sections 2 and 3.
  • A "Premium partner" label on your verified homes, with an (i) that tells visitors it is a paid listing. For law firms the label reads "Sponsored listing", and the sponsored card also says that the firm paid for the placement.
  • A fuller profile: a description, photos, opening hours, services and languages, reviewed before publication.
  • Direct contact buttons: a Call button and a link to your own website or booking page.
  • Monthly numbers: estimates of views, price views, calls and clicks (section 10).
  • Faster review: new funeral price lists, and law-firm attorney or office updates, receive priority review to the same accuracy standard as other listings. Payment never changes ranking or verification standards.

We may improve or change these features. If a change materially reduces what you get, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before then for a refund of the unused part of your current period.

2. The tiers

All prices are in US dollars, before sales tax.

  • Basic: $49.99 a month, or $359.88 a year billed yearly (the same as $29.99 a month). One ZIP code. One of your funeral homes. Shown in rotation with other businesses that sponsor the same ZIP code: up to 5 sponsors in all (section 3.3).
  • Pro: $69.99 a month, or $503.88 a year billed yearly (the same as $41.99 a month). Up to 3 ZIP codes. Up to 3 of your funeral homes. Shown in rotation with other businesses that sponsor each ZIP code: up to 3 sponsors in all (section 3.3).
  • Ultra: $99.99 a month, or $719.88 a year billed yearly (the same as $59.99 a month). One metro area. Up to 5 of your funeral homes. The only business shown in the Sponsored areas of that metro area's page to visitors whose ZIP code we don't know, within the limits in section 3.4.

Your funeral homes means locations your business owns or operates and that we verify under section 5. For law firms, Basic, Pro and Ultra cover one firm in one ZIP code, up to three ZIP codes, or one metro area respectively, at the same prices and within the same audience and seat limits. Home-count allowances do not apply to law-firm accounts.

You choose your tier, billing period, targets and homes when you buy. A target is a ZIP code (Basic and Pro) or a metro area (Ultra). After purchase you can add ZIP codes and homes in your account, up to your tier's limits; added homes show once we verify them.

Upgrading. You can move up a tier in your account, from Basic to Pro or Ultra, or from Pro to Ultra, on the same billing period and subject to availability. Before you confirm, we show what you'll pay today: the difference between the two prices for the rest of your current billing period, plus any sales tax. Your renewal date doesn't change, and from then on you pay the new tier's price. If you're in free days (a trial, a referral or another credit), nothing is charged today and the new price starts when the free days end. A discount already on your plan carries over for the rest of its term. The upgrade starts only once that payment succeeds. When you move to Ultra, your ZIP code targets end as soon as the upgrade is paid, and your homes carry over, up to Ultra's limit.

Moving down a tier or changing your billing period. You can move down a tier, or from yearly to monthly billing, in your account. The change starts on your renewal date: until then your plan stays as it is, and nothing is refunded for the current period. When you move down a tier, you choose which ZIP codes and homes stay, within your new tier's limits (law firms choose the ZIP codes). Moving down from Ultra, you choose ZIP codes that have room, subject to availability, and we hold them for you until the change starts. You can undo a change in your account until it starts, and only one change can wait at a time. While it waits, you can't pause or upgrade your plan, and if your subscription is cancelled, the change is dropped and any ZIP codes held for it are released. If your renewal date moves, for example because of free days or a referral credit, the change moves with it.

You can also move from monthly to yearly billing in your account. That starts at once: you pay the yearly price less the unused part of your current month, plus any sales tax, and your renewal date becomes a year from that day. If a discount for a set number of payments is still running, you can switch to yearly once it ends.

3. Where and how sponsored homes appear

3.1 Only in labelled areas

Your homes appear only in areas labelled "Sponsored": above the map, between the map and the price table, and below the price table, on metro-area pages, and in the Sponsored areas of state pages. Every Sponsored area carries the "Sponsored" label and an (i) that explains it.

Sponsored units never appear inside the ranked price table and never change its order or the prices in it. We decide the number, design, size and position of Sponsored areas, and we may change them.

3.2 ZIP code targets (Basic and Pro)

A ZIP code target shows your home in the Sponsored areas of the metro-area page that contains that ZIP code, to visitors whose ZIP code we know to be that ZIP code (for example, because they searched for it or shared their location). When that metro area has no Ultra partner, your home may also be shown, in rotation with the sponsors of other ZIP codes in the metro area, to visitors whose ZIP code we don't know.

A ZIP code target shows only on the page of a metro area we cover. The sign-up page offers only ZIP codes inside a metro area we cover. Some of those metro areas don't have a live price page yet, because we publish a metro's page only once it has enough verified prices; until then a placement there isn't shown, and your paid period still runs.

3.3 How many businesses sponsor a ZIP code

A ZIP code with a Basic sponsor has at most five sponsoring businesses; one with a Pro sponsor has at most three. If both tiers are present, the lower limit applies. A business counts once regardless of its locations or subscriptions in that inventory. Funeral-provider and law-firm seats are counted separately. We do not sell a seat that exceeds a limit already promised. Any earlier seat arrangements must be resolved before a new conflicting subscription is sold.

3.4 What Ultra's exclusivity covers, and what it doesn't

We sell one Ultra subscription per metro area at a time. This is what that means:

  • On the metro area's page, your homes are the only sponsored homes shown to visitors whose ZIP code we don't know, and to visitors whose ZIP code has no Basic or Pro sponsor.
  • On your state's page, your homes are shown in rotation with the Ultra partners of the state's other metro areas.

Ultra doesn't stop other businesses from buying Basic or Pro ZIP code targets inside your metro area. A visitor whose ZIP code we know sees that ZIP code's Basic and Pro sponsors on the metro-area page, not your homes, even though you are the metro area's Ultra partner. Ultra is not exclusive in any other sense, and it doesn't affect any other page or any list on the site.

A metro area is the area covered by our page for it, as we define it.

3.5 Rotation

Where several businesses or homes share a Sponsored area, we choose which appear on each page view at random, showing different businesses before more homes of the same business. We don't promise an equal share of views, a particular position, or that your home appears on any particular page view.

Before the Sponsored area loads, or when a visitor's browser doesn't run JavaScript, the area may show an invitation to advertise instead of a sponsor.

3.6 Changes to pages and coverage

If we stop publishing a metro-area page you target (a home's own page being hidden is different: see section 5), or change a metro area so that a ZIP code you target is no longer inside it, we tell you and offer you another available target of the same kind or a refund of the unused part of your current period. If your plan has more than one target and only some of them are affected, the refund covers their share: for each affected target, the unused part of your current period divided by the number of targets on your plan when it happens. Your plan continues with your other targets.

3.7 Seat holds at checkout

When you start checkout, we hold your targets for 30 minutes. If your payment completes after the hold ends and another business took the seat meanwhile, we offer you another available target of the same kind or a full refund.

4. No guaranteed results

We don't guarantee any number of page views, impressions, clicks, calls, contacts, leads, arrangements or revenue, and we don't guarantee any position on any page. Visitor numbers vary from page to page and month to month, and some pages have few visitors.

Premium never affects your rank in any comparison or list. Nothing on the site, in our emails or in our sales material is a promise of results.

These exclusions do not reduce our obligation to provide the purchased features or honour the refund rights in these terms.

5. Verification before you pay, and checks before display

  • Funeral providers must hold all licences required for their location and services. Law firms must be authorised to practise through appropriately licensed lawyers in each advertised jurisdiction and identify a responsible lawyer, office address and contact information. A law firm's sponsored card shows only once you have given us the name and state bar number of a responsible lawyer licensed in that state and the office street address; the card shows the lawyer's name and the address. We don't yet sell Premium to law firms in Florida, while we complete The Florida Bar's qualifying-provider registration. We may check public licensing records. A verification badge describes the record and date checked, not competence, suitability or an endorsement.

For funeral homes:

  • You claim and verify each home before you pay. You can buy a plan only for a home you have claimed and we have verified as yours. Claiming is free. If we can't verify a home, you haven't paid anything for it.
  • How we verify. We use one of these:
  • an email address at the home's own web domain; or
  • a call from us to the phone number the state board lists for the home. If the board lists none, we call the number we already show for the home. We never use a number you give us for this call.

A signed letter on the home's letterhead counts only together with that call. If your email address doesn't match the home's website, we verify by the call.

  • How long it takes. We usually finish within 2 business days of your claim. If we need more information, we email you and keep what you've already sent.
  • What shows after you pay. Your sponsored placement, Premium partner or Sponsored listing label and profile content appear once we have checked them against our Sponsored Content Policy, usually within 1 business day. Your paid period starts when you pay, not when that check finishes. If your placement isn't showing within 14 days of your payment, you can cancel and we refund you in full.
  • Homes you add later. A home you add to a paid plan shows only after we verify it as above. If we can't verify it, it is never shown, your subscription continues with your verified homes, and you can add another of your homes, up to your tier's limit.
  • If a home's own page is hidden later. Your sponsored card for a home shows only while that home's own page on our site is public. We hide a home's page if its licence lapses or is suspended or revoked, the home closes or merges with another listing, we remove it for a reason we tell you, or we no longer hold a current price list for it. While the page is hidden, its sponsored card is hidden too, and your subscription and billing continue: we don't pause, credit or refund that time. We contact you within 2 business days of hiding the page to help you fix it. To fix it, send us a link to the home's current General Price List, or to the state board's record of its licence, from the Support tab in your account. We review it within 5 business days of receiving it and tell you the result. When it's approved, the page and its card come back. If you can't use your account, email corrections@honestfarewell.org. This doesn't change the 14-day refund above. You can cancel at any time (section 9).
  • One verified owner per home. If two businesses claim the same home, we decide on the evidence. If another business later proves that it, and not you, represents a home, we remove that home from your subscription. If that leaves you with no verified home, we cancel the subscription and refund the unused part of your current period.

For law firms:

  • Nothing is shown until we verify you. Your sponsored placement, Premium partner or Sponsored listing label and profile content appear for a home only after we have verified that you represent that home. We may ask for evidence, such as an email address at the home's own domain, a call to the phone number we already list, or documents.
  • How long it takes. We aim to finish verification within 2 business days of your payment. If we haven't finished within 14 days, you can cancel and we refund you in full.
  • Your paid period starts when you pay, not when verification finishes.
  • If we can't verify a home, we refuse it and it is never shown. If that leaves your subscription with no verified home to show, we cancel the subscription and refund everything you paid for it, in full. If at least one of your homes is verified, the subscription continues with those homes, and you can ask us to add another of your homes, up to your tier's limit.
  • One verified owner per home. If two businesses claim the same home, we decide on the evidence. If another business later proves that it, and not you, represents a home, we remove that home from your subscription. If you are left with no verified home, the full-refund rule above applies to the current period.
  • If your firm's listing is hidden later. Your sponsored card shows only while we list at least one office of your firm: an office in a state where at least one of your firm's lawyers is licensed and we've checked that lawyer's state bar record (in a few states, a recognised credential counts instead). We also stop listing a firm that merges with another listing, or that we remove for a reason we tell you. While we list no office of your firm, your card is hidden, and your subscription and billing continue: we don't pause, credit or refund that time. We contact you within 2 business days of hiding it to help you fix it. To fix it, send us the office's street address and the name and state bar number of a lawyer there licensed in that state, from the Support tab in your account. We review it within 5 business days of receiving it and tell you the result. When it's approved, your card comes back. If you can't use your account, email corrections@honestfarewell.org. You can cancel at any time (section 9).

6. Fees, billing and taxes

  • Fees are the prices in section 2 for your tier and billing period. They are charged in advance, in US dollars: each month for monthly billing, each year for yearly billing.
  • Applicable transaction taxes and the total charge are shown before payment. The seller identified in checkout and on your receipt is responsible for transaction tax collection and remittance under the applicable payment arrangement; enabling a tax-calculation tool alone does not change the seller.
  • Payments use Stripe. If your checkout and receipt identify a Stripe entity as merchant of record through Managed Payments, that entity handles the sale transaction, applicable transaction taxes, payment disputes and transaction-level support under the terms presented at checkout. Honest Reviews Tech LLC supplies and supports the Premium service and remains responsible for its service commitments. Otherwise, Honest Reviews Tech LLC is the seller and Stripe processes payment for us. The applicable route and seller must be disclosed before payment. We do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Flat fees only. We do not charge per lead, call, click, arrangement or legal matter, share legal fees, or receive a commission on funeral or legal services.
  • Invoices and receipts are available under Manage billing in your account.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe retries it. If it is still unpaid 14 days after it was due, we may pause your Premium features and sponsored placement. If it is still unpaid after 30 days, we may cancel the subscription, and your targets may go to other businesses.

7. Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. Here is exactly what that means.

  • What renews: your subscription, at your current tier and billing period (including any change you made in your account), with the same targets and homes.
  • When: monthly subscriptions renew every month, and yearly subscriptions every year, on the date your current period ends.
  • At what price: the price of your tier and billing period at the time of renewal, plus any sales tax. Today that is $49.99 a month or $359.88 a year for Basic, $69.99 a month or $503.88 a year for Pro, and $99.99 a month or $719.88 a year for Ultra. We tell you before any price change (section 8).
  • How you pay: we charge the payment method on file at each renewal.
  • No minimum term. You commit only to the period you have paid for.
  • How to cancel online: sign in at premium.honestfarewell.org, open Subscription, choose Cancel or pause, then Cancel and confirm. Cancel is immediately available; you don't have to select or decline a pause offer, answer a survey or contact support. You may also email partners@honestfarewell.org. A cancellation received before the renewal charge stops that renewal, even if processed later.premium.honestfarewell.org
  • Your consent. Before collecting billing information, checkout shows the amount payable now, taxes, monthly or yearly term, automatic renewal price and frequency, and cancellation method. You actively select an unchecked automatic-renewal consent box before paying. We retain the consent record and applicable terms version. Additional consent is obtained where required by law.
  • Confirmations. After you subscribe, we email you a confirmation with your tier, price, billing period, these renewal terms and how to cancel. After you cancel, we email you a confirmation with the date your subscription ends.
  • Yearly reminder. We send an annual renewal email about 30 days before renewal showing the date, amount and cancellation method. We also provide any earlier or additional notice, delivery method or consent required by applicable law. Where a required renewal condition has not been met, we do not rely on automatic renewal and seek affirmative agreement before charging.

8. Price changes

We may change prices for future periods. A new price never applies to a period you have already paid for.

We email you at least 30 days before the renewal at which a new price applies, and send a reminder between 7 and 30 days before it. Each email states the new price, the date it applies, and how to cancel. If you don't cancel before that renewal, the new price applies from it.

9. Cancellation and refunds

  • You can cancel online at any time (section 7). There is no cancellation fee.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your paid period. Premium stays on until then, and we don't charge you again.
  • We don't refund partial periods, except as these terms and the Cancellation and Refund Policy state, or where the law requires it. We refund you when your placement isn't showing within 14 days of your payment or you lose your last verified home, when we can't verify any of a law firm's homes (section 5), when a metro-area page or target you paid for goes away (sections 3.6 and 3.7; not when a home's own page or a firm's listing is hidden, section 5), when we end your subscription without cause (section 13), and when we charge you in error.
  • When your subscription ends, your homes return to the standard free listing. The Premium partner or Sponsored listing label, sponsored placement and Premium-only profile content come down. Your prices and your place in any comparison stay as they were, because Premium never affected them.

Pausing a monthly plan

Pause confirmation and restart

You may pause a monthly plan for one, two or three billing months, once in any rolling 12 months. The pause begins when your current paid month ends. Sponsored placement is hidden, your seat is retained and no subscription fee is charged during the pause. The pause confirmation identifies which other profile features remain available, its start date, restart date and restart monthly amount plus applicable tax. By confirming the pause, you authorise billing to restart on that date. We email confirmation and a reminder seven days before restart. Section 8 applies to price increases during a pause; without the required notice we defer the increase. You may resume early after confirming the immediate new monthly charge; your billing date resets to that day. You may cancel during the pause with immediate effect, no restart charge and release of your seats. Annual plans cannot be paused.

10. Statistics and data

  • Monthly numbers. Your account shows how many times your homes' pages were viewed, their prices were viewed, the Call button was tapped and your website link was clicked, and how often your sponsored units were shown and clicked.
  • Listing history. The Listings tab lets you download a dated copy of every version of your listing and sponsored card, for your own records.
  • They are estimates from our own measurement. They exclude visitors who decline statistics or whose browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, and automated traffic we detect. A Call count is a tap on the button, not a connected call. Our figures may differ from yours.
  • No family leads. We never sell leads, and we never give you personal information about visitors, with one exception: when a family asks your home to call them back, we pass on the first name, phone number, any best time to call, any note, and whether they need help as soon as possible, as they gave them for that request. Families contact you directly, when they choose to. Everything else we report to you is aggregated.
  • Your account data is handled as our Privacy Policy describes.

11. Your content

  • What it covers: the descriptions, photos, hours, services, languages, links, phone numbers and other material you submit ("your content").
  • Our review. We review your content before it is published. It must meet our Sponsored Content Policy. We may approve it, reject it, ask you for evidence behind a claim, or edit it for accuracy or format. We don't change its meaning without asking you. Our approval doesn't mean we have checked that your content is lawful; that remains your responsibility.
  • You promise that your content is accurate, authorised and lawful, respects others’ rights, and remains current. Funeral providers must comply with applicable funeral laws, including the FTC Funeral Rule where applicable. Law firms must comply with applicable professional-conduct and advertising rules, including required disclosures, filing, review and record retention. Our review does not replace your obligations.
  • Licence to us. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, resize, crop, format and display your content on honestfarewell.org, as part of your listing and your sponsored units, for as long as you subscribe. We don't use your content in our own advertising without your permission. After your subscription ends, we take Premium-only content down within 30 days; copies may remain in backups and caches for a short time.
  • Removal. We may remove content at any time if it stops meeting the Sponsored Content Policy, for example because your price list or licence changed.

12. Our editorial independence

  • Ranking and prices are never for sale. Lists and comparisons are ordered by the published criteria described in How listings are ordered, whether or not a home pays.
  • Prices come only from each home's own General Price List, with the date we checked it. You can update your prices only by giving us a new price list, which we review to the same standard as everyone's.
  • Right of reply, never removal. If information about your home is wrong, tell us and we check it and correct it. Where the site offers replies, you may publish one. We never remove accurate information, reviews that meet our published policy, or another home's listing because you ask or pay.
  • Our guides and articles are not for sale. Premium doesn't buy mentions, and it doesn't give you any right to review our coverage before publication.
  • The Premium partner and Sponsored listing labels are not an endorsement. We don't endorse or recommend any funeral home or lawyer.

13. Suspension and termination

  • By you: cancel at any time (section 7).
  • By us, for cause. We may suspend or end your subscription if you breach these terms or the Sponsored Content Policy, misrepresent your business, don't pay, or if a home's licence lapses or is suspended or revoked, or a regulator finds that a home broke funeral consumer-protection law. Where we can, we tell you first and give you 10 days to put things right. Where we need to protect visitors, we may act at once and tell you afterwards. When we end a subscription for cause, we don't refund the unused period, unless the law requires it.
  • By us, without cause. We may stop offering Premium, a tier or a target. We give you at least 30 days' notice by email and refund the unused part of your current period.
  • What survives: sections 4, 9 to 12 and 14 to 19 continue after your subscription ends, as far as they are relevant.

14. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, we provide Premium "as is" and "as available". We don't promise that the site or Premium will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Services run by others, such as Stripe and Google, are outside our control.

15. Limitation of liability

  • Cap. Our total liability to you arising from Premium or these terms is limited to the fees you paid us under these terms in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
  • Indirect losses. Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill or data.
  • Exceptions. The cap and excluded-damages clause do not limit our express refund obligations, either party’s fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. They do not excuse your fees or the third-party indemnity in section 16.

16. Your indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Honest Reviews Tech LLC and its members, employees and contractors against third-party claims and reasonable resulting losses and legal costs to the extent caused by your unlawful or infringing content, material breach of these terms, negligence or misconduct in supplying your services. This excludes losses caused by our breach, negligence or misconduct. We notify you promptly; delay excuses your obligations only to the extent it materially prejudices your defence. You may control the defence with competent counsel, and we cooperate reasonably at your cost. Any settlement admitting our fault, imposing a non-monetary obligation on us or failing to release us requires our written consent, not unreasonably withheld.

17. Disputes and governing law

  • Please first email partners@honestfarewell.org describing the dispute. We will both try in good faith to resolve it within 30 days. This does not prevent urgent interim relief, a regulatory complaint or filing needed to preserve a limitation period, and does not extend any statutory filing deadline.
  • Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
  • Forum. Subject to any non-waivable law, disputes relating to Premium or these terms must be brought in the state courts located in Kent County, Delaware, or, where federal subject-matter jurisdiction exists, the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. Each party consents to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts. These terms do not require arbitration or waive class-action rights.

18. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. For a material change, we email you and post the new terms on this page at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect, and if the change is material and to your disadvantage, we refund the unused part of your current period. A change the law requires may take effect sooner. We may fix typing errors and clarify wording without notice; the "Last updated" date below always shows the current version.

19. General

  • Notices. We send notices to the email address on your account. You send notices to partners@honestfarewell.org.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your subscription without our written consent. We may transfer these terms to a business that takes over HonestFarewell, and we tell you if we do.
  • Entire agreement. These terms, together with the policies they link to, are the whole agreement about Premium.
  • Severability and waiver. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term straight away doesn't waive it.
  • Events outside our control may excuse a delay only while they prevent reasonable performance. We take reasonable steps to restore service. This provision does not excuse accrued payment obligations, express refund rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
  • Relationship. We are independent businesses. These terms create no partnership, agency or employment.

20. Refer a friend

Who can refer. Any business with a Premium account can refer another funeral provider or law firm with the personal link on

its Refer tab. Funeral providers can refer law firms, and the other way round. We don't send anything for you: you share the

link yourself, from your own email or phone, and you're responsible for sending it only to people who are happy to hear from you.

Who counts as a new partner. The business you refer must create a new Premium account through your link within 30 days of

last opening a referral link (if it opens more than one partner's link, the last one counts). An account that already existed before the click doesn't count. You can't refer yourself: a referral doesn't

count, or stops counting, if the new account shares your account, your email address, your company's email domain (public

email services such as Gmail or Outlook excepted), or your Stripe customer record, uses for its first payment a card you have

paid us with, or claims a business you have claimed.

What the new partner gets. 30 free days on its first Premium plan, monthly or yearly. It chooses a plan and gives card

details at checkout, and we show the date of the first charge and its amount before it confirms. The plan then renews and is

charged automatically unless it cancels before the free days end (section 7). The free days apply only to an account that has

never had a subscription.

What you get. One free month (30 days) for each referral that counts. It lands when all of these are true: the new partner

has paid its first invoice (the free-days invoice doesn't count), we have verified that it represents a business it claimed,

and 14 days have passed since that payment with no refund, chargeback or cancellation. If you have an active plan, we move your

next payment date 30 days later. If you don't, we save the month and add it to your next checkout as 30 free days.

When a referral doesn't count. A referral earns nothing if:

  • the new partner's first payment is refunded (any amount) or disputed within the 14 days;
  • the new partner cancels within the 14 days;
  • we can't verify any business the new partner claimed;
  • it is a self-referral as described above;
  • the new partner doesn't start a plan within 120 days of signing up, or cancels its plan before the first payment; or
  • you have already earned 12 months through referrals in the past 365 days.

Once a month has been credited, a later refund or dispute of the new partner's payment doesn't take it back.

Where to see it. The Refer tab shows where each referral stands and how many months you have earned in the past 12 months.

No cash value. Free days and months have no cash value and can't be transferred, sold or exchanged for money. For law

firms: the program rewards bringing another business to an advertising service. It never pays for referring or recommending a

client, and nothing is ever paid per lead, client, family or matter.

Fair use. We may refuse or cancel a referral that was obtained by misleading anyone or in breach of these terms.

Changes. We may change or end the program by updating this section. A change doesn't affect a month you have already

earned, and a referral made before the change is handled under the terms in force when the new partner signed up.

21. Free claim (funeral homes)

A funeral home can claim its listing for free. A free claim is not a Premium plan, and these terms apply to it where they make sense for a service with no fee.

What it includes.

  • Control of your home's listing, once we've checked that you represent the home.
  • Callback requests sent to you directly, from up to 5 families each calendar month (Pacific time). A family that asks more than once in a month counts once. From the 6th family on, our team passes that month's requests to your home by phone instead, within 2 business days.
  • Your new price lists reviewed after Premium partners' and before those of homes without a claim.
  • Corrections to your phone number, website and street address.

What it doesn't include. The Premium profile, sponsored placement and the monthly statistics in a paid partner account. We may email you a short summary of last month's numbers. A free claim never changes where your home ranks or the prices we show. We don't promise any number of requests (see section 4).

Verification. We check that you represent the home before anything is sent to you, to the same standard as Premium, and we may ask for more proof than a paid claim needs. Until we've checked, requests reach your home through our team.

If a paid plan ends. Your verified claim continues as a free claim, with the monthly limit above.

No service level. The free claim comes with no guarantee of availability or response times. We may change it, including the monthly limit, and we'll email you before a change takes effect.

Ending a free claim. You can end it at any time by emailing partners@honestfarewell.org. We may end it if the proof that you represent the home no longer holds, or if the claim is used to receive requests meant for another business.
