HonestFarewell

Premium Cancellation and Refund Policy

How to cancel a HonestFarewell Premium subscription online, when it ends, and when we refund, including a full refund if your placement isn't showing within 14 days, or if we can't verify a law firm.

This policy is part of our Premium Subscription Terms.

How to cancel

  1. Sign in at premium.honestfarewell.org.
  2. Open the Subscription tab.
  1. Choose Cancel or pause, then Cancel, and confirm.

Pausing is optional. Cancel is immediately available on the same page; you don't have to select or decline a pause offer.

You can cancel at any time, with no fee and no need to call us. If you can't sign in, email partners@honestfarewell.org from the address on your account. A request we receive before a renewal date stops that renewal, even if we act on it later. We email you a confirmation with the date your subscription ends.

What happens when you cancel

  • Premium stays on until the end of the month or year you have paid for, then ends. We don't charge you again.
  • When it ends, your homes return to the standard free listing. The Premium partner or Sponsored listing label, sponsored placement and Premium-only profile content come down.
  • Your prices and your place in any comparison don't change, because Premium never affected them.

For law firms, references to homes mean the firm listing; cancellation never changes its organic order. Monthly pauses follow section 9 of the Premium Subscription Terms: one to three months, once per rolling 12 months; no subscription charge during pause; seats retained; automatic restart on the confirmed date with a seven-day reminder; early resume starts a newly charged month; cancellation during pause is immediate. Annual plans cannot pause.

  • At the end of a cancelled paid period, seats are released. Cancelling during a pause releases them immediately. A continuing pause keeps them. A released seat may not be available if you later return.

When we refund

  • Funeral homes: your placement isn't showing within 14 days of your payment: you can cancel, and we refund everything you paid for the subscription.
  • Funeral homes: you lose your last verified home (another business proves it represents it): a refund of the unused part of the current period.
  • Law firms: we can't verify any of your homes: a full refund of everything you paid for the subscription. If we verify at least one of your homes, the subscription continues with the verified homes.
  • A target you paid for goes away: if we stop publishing a metro-area page you target, a metro-area change takes your ZIP code out of it, or your seat was taken because your payment completed after the 30-minute checkout hold. We offer you another available target of the same kind or a refund: in full for a checkout-hold conflict, of the unused part of your period otherwise. If your plan keeps other targets, the refund covers only the affected targets' share of that unused part (Premium Subscription Terms, section 3.6).
  • Funeral homes: a home's own page is hidden (for example, its licence lapses or we no longer hold a current price list for it): no refund or credit. Its sponsored card is hidden with it, your subscription continues, and we contact you within 2 business days to help you fix it. Send the fix from the Support tab in your account: we review it within 5 business days of receiving it and tell you the result. When it's approved, the page and its card come back. If you can't use your account, email corrections@honestfarewell.org (Premium Subscription Terms, section 5).
  • Law firms: we no longer list any office of your firm (for example, no lawyer we've checked is licensed in the office's state): no refund or credit. Your sponsored card is hidden, your subscription continues, and we contact you within 2 business days to help you fix it. Send the fix from the Support tab in your account: we review it within 5 business days of receiving it and tell you the result. When it's approved, your card comes back. If you can't use your account, email corrections@honestfarewell.org (Premium Subscription Terms, section 5).
  • We end your subscription without cause, or stop offering your tier: a refund of the unused part of your period.
  • We change the service or these terms materially and to your disadvantage, and you cancel before the change takes effect: a refund of the unused part of your period.
  • We charge you in error, for example twice: a full refund of the mistaken charge.
  • The law requires a refund.

Law firms: if we haven't finished verifying your home within 14 days of your payment, you can cancel and we refund you in full.

When we don't refund

Outside the cases above, we don't refund the unused part of a month or year when you cancel, and we don't refund a period because your homes received fewer views, calls or clicks than you hoped. We never guarantee results. When we end a subscription for cause under the Premium Subscription Terms, we don't refund the unused period, unless the law requires it.

How refunds are paid

Refunds are returned to the original payment method, including applicable tax on the refunded amount. We arrange refunds through the seller and payment route shown on your receipt, including Stripe Managed Payments where applicable. We initiate an approved refund promptly; banks commonly take five to ten business days, but timing varies. No future-service credit replaces a cash-method refund unless you agree. Mandatory refund rights are preserved.

Changing your tier, period, targets or homes

You can add ZIP codes and homes in your account, up to your tier's limits. You can also move up a tier in your account: you pay the difference for the rest of your current billing period, and your renewal date stays the same (Premium Subscription Terms, section 2). An upgrade payment follows the same refund rules as any other payment on this page. You can also move down a tier, or change your billing period, in your account (Premium Subscription Terms, section 2). A move down a tier or from yearly to monthly starts on your renewal date, with no refund for the current period. A move from monthly to yearly starts at once, and you pay the yearly price less the unused part of your current month, plus any sales tax.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it and emails you. If it is still unpaid 14 days after it was due, we may pause Premium. If it is still unpaid after 30 days, we may cancel the subscription and release your seats.

Questions about a charge

For a charge question, email partners@honestfarewell.org or contact transaction support identified on your receipt. Contacting us is encouraged but is not a condition of exercising bank, payment-network or statutory dispute rights.
