Funeral and cremation law in Utah
Who decides, what has to wait, and what a funeral home must tell you. Every fact links to its statute. Not legal advice.

- Unclaimed cremated remains
Utah requires an authorizing agent to provide a signed statement identifying the final disposition of cremated remains, if known. The authorizing agent remains responsible for the final disposition. If the remains have not been claimed and no ultimate disposition has been specified within 60 days, the funeral service establishment may dispose of them in a lawful manner, except by scattering.
