Naming a disposition agent

Rhode Island gives significant legal weight to a pre-existing funeral service contract. When a qualifying contract executed by the principal specifies cremation, it can serve as the legal authorization for cremation. Where there is no applicable contract, the law provides a survivor priority system for funeral and final-disposition decisions. Rhode Island is a good example of why a pre-need arrangement can be more than a price agreement. Depending on how it is written, it can also carry legal weight about the actual method of disposition.
