Funeral and cremation law in Oregon
Who decides, what has to wait, and what a funeral home must tell you. Every fact links to its statute. Not legal advice.

- Naming a disposition agent
Oregon expressly allows an adult of sound mind to direct a lawful manner of disposition through a written instrument or qualifying prearrangement. The law covers the person's right to direct disposition and allows the person to delegate that authority.
- Human composting (natural organic reduction)
Oregon is also one of the states with a legal framework for newer forms of human-remains disposition, including natural organic reduction. The specific facility, licensing, and handling rules should be checked separately from the basic right-to-control rule.
