When a funeral director is required

Michigan's law gives the person with the legal right of disposition control over the deceased person's remains, and the state has specific licensing and procedural requirements for funeral establishments and crematories. Funeral Consumers Alliance identifies Michigan as one of the states where funeral-director involvement is required for several core tasks, including death-certificate filing, body removal and transportation, and supervision of burial or cremation.
